Foods that you should not eat to have a healthy diet

The consumption of certain foods prevents us from having a proper diet. Over time, we all aim to maintain a healthy diet. Whether it's because our doctor recommends it to prevent certain diseases or because we want to make a change in our physical appearance and maintain healthy lifestyle habits.

The problem is that there are products that may seem very attractive and delicious to us, but their consumption, especially if it's high and regular, can lead to serious health problems. Rubén Bravo, a nutrition expert and spokesperson for the European Medical Institute of Obesity (IMEO), states that "in the long run, these foods can have a negative impact on health, causing diseases such as diabetes, high cholesterol, cardiovascular problems, leading to obesity, malnutrition, lack of vitality, and/or addiction."

In this regard, the nutrition expert from IMEO emphasizes that we should eliminate from our diet or consume these foods sporadically if we want to maintain good health:

• Industrial pastries: they provide minimal nutrients and have a high sugar content. They are rich in precursors of bad cholesterol (LDL) and are also addictive.

• Highly processed foods: those made with very low-quality ingredients, rich in sugars, saturated fats, preservatives, and chemicals that could have a negative impact on health in the long run.

• Fried or battered foods: they absorb a large amount of saturated fats that are associated with carcinogenic effects.

• Excessively fatty processed meats: mainly because they provide saturated fats of animal origin.

• Foods based on refined flours (pasta, rice, potatoes as a tuber): they cause the body to absorb excess sugar, which could alter some metabolic and hormonal functions and may also be addictive.

• Alcohol: it provides "empty" calories and increases the feeling of hunger.
